You cannot fully understand the Blair/Chuck situation and appreciate it until you’ve been in it and felt that way for someone. Their abuse of each other as awful as it is is one of the things that make them similar. When you’ve been in a situation where, try as you might you cannot move past this person who treated you like shit and that you treated like shit (but not all the time obviously, or neither of you would have any reason to care about each other) but you just can’t because you two love each other and that’s why you hurt each other, then you’ll understand.

But until then keep living in your little fantasy world were the good guy gets the girl and changes her into a better person, Dair fans. Just remember that never happens in real life. xoxo

the gossip girl writers have proven to me on more than one occasion that they do not deserve the respect of their (intelligent) fans or their views. since whenever they decided to cater to chuck bass fans the quality of their show has gone downhill. when they decided to turn the antagonistic bad guy who attempted to rape not one but two of the central characters in the pilot into some kind of a romantic hero they began to sacrifice the integrity of their writing to please a certain group of people. and I get why they did it in the beginning I suppose, chuck and blair had the kind of sexual chemistry that nate and blair didn’t, so people wanted to see more of that, I understand. but they shouldn’t have tried to make chuck into some dr. jekyl and mr. hyde, one side of him being horrible and depraved and then another side which is sweet and loving towards blair. they attempted to turn him into something he isn’t. that’s where things got messy, they still to this day try to write him as both a bad person and a romantic lead and it just doesn’t work.

After everything he’s done to her, after all the shit he’s put her through, after the years of emotional (and physical) abuse, we actually have to be subjected to this? here’s my two cents or fucking five

blair’s storyline this season was all about her growing up. it was about her coming out of the high school mindset/fantasy that she needs to be royalty or needs to be a princess; it’s something she’s wanted since she was a baby but the dream is so outdated now that the storyline was all about teaching her that she can be a strong, powerful woman and not be stuck in a fantasy.

it was also about her becoming more independent and leaving a relationship that made her weak. this storyline became all about her insecurities being washed away, to be replaced with strength and confidence in herself.

she repeatedly told chuck she wasn’t in love with him anymore. she repeatedly voiced how much it hurt her when he sold her for the empire. it was unhealthy and abusive and just plain horrifying, and it traumatized her. this storyline was essentially supposed to show her recovering from that betrayal, and realizing that she was worth better things.

and they ended it with her going back to chuck.

i think it really cheapens the whole purpose of the storyline by having her go back to the same person who hurt her time and time again, the same person who caused her downfall after he sold her for the empire. i just think it’s really sad that they decided to do this, and it makes no sense.

blair choosing chuck is once again proof of how gossip girl views women as weak and powerless. she has no control over how she feels — she’s helplessly and insanely in love with him! no amount of growing up will ever change this epic love that they share!

honestly the fact that this show, which was once so female-friendly — i mean all of the main, beloved characters from the very beginning were strong women — has now become the paradigm of sexism is disgusting.

women don’t matter. the only one who matters is chuck.

So this just sort of happened. Honestly, I’m just tired of seeing people telling me and other DB fans to ‘Just get over the hotel already!’ and that ‘It happened years ago! [insert insult here]’ because I do have my reasons for not being over it.

Just because you’re over it doesn’t mean everybody else has to be.

Look, Blair has already forgiven Chuck for it. Good for her. But anyone can see that the damage that the incident caused has left her broken, still, even after 2 years. She finds it hard to trust Chuck. She finds it easy to believe in the worst in him. Most of all, she lost sight of the strong and willful woman that she once used to be because of him. This is why it’s so infuriating that people even have the nerve to call her a bitch for bringing it up. WTF. She has every right to do so because guess what? It happened, and it broke her and she’s still trying to recover from it.

If you’re someone who has managed to forgive (and forget) and let go of it, good for you or whatever. But you know what? In real life, when someone betrays your trust, when someone hurts and destroys you, sometimes it takes a week to heal… sometimes it takes a year and sometimes even more than that.

This is an important and serious issue to me. Maybe it isn’t for some and that’s why it’s so easy for them to move on from it, but it is for me and for some other people as well. Why can’t people just understand that? And it isn’t just about the hotel. It’s about everything that it stands for. The disrespect, the emotional abuse… he took her self-worth and he sucked the strong and powerful woman right out of her. I can’t stand that, and I can’t stand a relationship like that. To me, it’s not right and it never will be.

I honestly don’t understand how anybody can ship Chuck and Blair after everything, even after all the apologies because to me, they just destroy each other whenever they’re together… sometimes sooner, sometimes later but it always happens one way or another. But I do understand that not everyone sees things the way I do. Maybe some people interpret these events and these scenes differently, and though I can’t see it their way no matter how hard I try, I at least have the decency to respect that they have a different perspective than I do. I wish others can find it in their hearts to respect my opinion as I do theirs.
